About the Boys Brigade

The 8th Stirling Boys Brigade is open to children and young people aged from 5 to 18 and runs on Wednesday and Friday nights in the St Ninians Old Parish Church Hall. Ran by a group of dedicated leaders, there is plenty of fun to be had throughout the school year. With so much planned this year, it's the perfect opportunity to get involved and join the adventure.

We provide opportunities for children and young people to learn, grow and discover in a safe, fun and caring environment. Over 40,000 children and young people get involved every week across all companies. There's something for every young person.

This year, the 8th Stirling Boys Brigade is running free of membership costs (usually £30 a boy per year) in an effort to help families during the current tough times.

What we do

We provide a programme of activity across four age groups, providing fun and exciting activities with opportunities for children and young people to be recognised for their participation and achievement through awards. We always learn from our boys and take suggestions or improvements to suit everyone.

In addition to our programme and activities in the hall, we also do a range of activities away. From Ten-Pin Bowling, attending different sport games, Laser tag and more, to outdoor activities such as Camp, Lendrick Muir and Briarlands Farm, theres plenty of exciting reasons to join us.

Every year, progress and achievements are recognised through badges and awards. Each age group has a progression of badges, working towards our highest award of Queen's Badge in Seniors.

Volunteering

Helping out in a BB group with children and young people can make all the difference to young lives - meaning happier young people, happier communities and a society that values the contribution that we can all make; young, old or in-between. We call our volunteers “leaders” because they guide a course for children and young people.

The experience of helping out at the Boys Brigade is a rewarding one and we'd love for anyone who is interested to get in touch. There's no pressure to help out every week. We need volunteers to help children with activities, games, sport, arts and crafts, hobbies, music etc. Whatever you can help with is greatly valued. We also want volunteers who will be able to relate to young people and over time, become adults they can trust and talk to.

You can volunteer from 14+ as a Young Leader, with a wider range of roles for those aged 18+ across our 4 sections. We are always excited to see what new leaders can bring to our company so we'd love to hear from you.
